March 2017 Newsletter

Welcome to our first newsletter of 2017. Over the next few months, we at Davenham Theatre are hosting a great array of performing arts, starting with “Tonight on the Wireless” later this month in which a live audience will experience an evening of Radio Plays, Comedy and Sketches as a cast perform live to the microphone with sound effects.

Next in April “Dark Moments” takes to the stage exploring life through the lens of three one-act plays

Jazz@Davenham continues its programme of monthly jazz gigs. Coming up later this month is the Pat McCarthy quartet and next month it’s John Shennoy’s Draw by Four.

Davenham Players Club Nights have dates booked in March and April for Play Readings and other social activities. Paulette Anderson is holding an audition for a storytelling evening on Thursday 28th March.  See Dates for Your Diary below

This January, Winsford lad Alan Fleet shot a short comedy film starring Andrea Scott and Philip Lightfoot. Andrea was picked after Alan saw her in a play at Davenham Theatre. The film, A Randy Obsession, is 4m 28s long and has now been uploaded to Alan’s YouTube channel (Alan Fleet – YouTube) for everyone to view for free.

Don’t forget that the Davenham Community Mosaic is open and on show to anyone who comes along to the theatre at 59 Church Street CW9 8NF. Come and see what the local community has achieved.

For two nights only in March, Davenham Theatre will be turned into a radio studio. You will be the live audience; the actors perform live to microphone. See how a studio works with sound effects and the effervescence that is Radio.

Directors – Tom and Denise Barry

Tickets: £9 from or 01606 259596

Chaos, panic, disorder. murder, secrets and lies: and the strange, sad, twisting pathways of life.
K.C. Finn’s Dark Moments explores life through the lens of three one-act plays where black comedy and gritty realism collide. In Passengers, cabin fever takes hold of a band of holidaymakers on a late night flight, suspicion and paranoia driving them to breaking point. Male Black sees a group of friends sitting down to a dinner party, when their common acquaintance Jimmy Black arrives. Black drives a rift into the group, one that can only be resolved by murder. Finally, in Other People’s Violence, the themes of isolation and loneliness are explored. Four people live in neighbouring flats, and one of them is about to die. The story follows the lives of these characters through their disasters, revelations and breakthroughs, until the grim prophecy comes true.
