In 2019\, four sisters are trying to divide their mother’s house between them \nJoy wants a baby\, Storm wants to be seen\, Sage wants to be paid\, Maya doesn’t want anyone to find out her secret and Granny’s in a wheelchair on day release. Mum’s presence still seeps through the ceiling and the floors. The Pelican Daughters are home for the last time. \nThe play’s authors\, Wardrobe Ensemble\, use their trademark irreverent humour and lovable characters to tackle the idea of what it means for young people to grapple with inheritance\, loss and justice in this comedy about four sisters trying to come to terms with their mother’s death. \n

DESCRIPTION:Open auditions to be held at Davenham Players Theatre on Friday 11th and Monday 14th October at 7.30pm for The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. \nProduction dates are 4th to 8th March 2025. \nHi everyone \nJust to let you know about my forthcoming production of The Importance of Being Earnest in the hope that I can entice you to come along to audition for a part. \nThe cast is made up of 4 females and 4/5 males as follows: \nLADY BRACKNELL\, an aristocratic and very formidable lady * who is mother to: \nHON.  GWENDOLEN FAIRFAX\, a well educated\, smart and sophisticated young lady of approx. 25 yrs.  She is anxious to find a husband by the name of Ernest. \nALGERNON MONCRIEF\, 30ish\, nephew of Lady B.\, lives almost entirely for pleasure. \nJACK WORTHING JP\, Algernon’s older (35/40) friend.  He is more worldly wise than A.I and is Guardian to his ward: \nCECILY CARDEW (19 yrs.) is a naive country girl who imagines that she engaged to a person called Ernest. \nMISS PRISM\, Cecily’s Governess.  A spinster who is attracted to: \nCANON CHASUBLE DD\,  a middle-aged Churchman who has never been married. He is very straightlaced. \nLANE\, Algernon’s Butler. \nMERRIMAN\, JACK’S Manservant  (or possibly Maid). \n*  Lady B needs to be of an age that makes it possible for to have given birth to G. \nI’m sure that you will all be familiar with this play but if you do need any more info\, please do ask. \nPlease let me know asap if you are interested in auditioning so that I can let you have the audition pieces.
