DESCRIPTION:Davenham Players is kicking off its 2023 season with performances of two acclaimed one act plays from the dark and dazzling mind of Caryl Churchill. \nWe begin the evening with the surreal black comedy ‘Escaped Alone’. The audience are invited to tea in Sally’s back garden with her close friends\, Vi and Lena\, and her oddball neighbour\, Mrs Jarrett. But as these four women while away a summer afternoon with idle gossip and good humour\, there are deep wells of insecurity bubbling up inside each of them and a full-blown apocalypse looming just beyond the garden wall. \nOur second play of the night is the biopunk thriller ‘A Number’\, where we find ourselves in the home of Salter and his son\, Bernard\, who is reeling from the recent discovery that he is part of a human cloning experiment.
