SUMMARY:Self-Catering by Andrew Cullen
DESCRIPTION:Davenham Players Present\nSelf-Catering (A Short History of the World)\nby Andrew Cullen\nA plane loaded with holiday-makers crash lands on a deserted island\, somewhere en route to Majorca. Five castaways straggle out of a plane crash with their Costa leisurewear already smirched and torn. The ill-assorted bunch soon suggest\, by the blackly comic way they react to one comatose companion\, that civilization must be a very loose term for where they came from. \nStrangers hitherto\, they soon recognize the opportunity to choose afresh whom to be. At the instigation of Henry\, they decide to become Marilyn\, Clint\, and Bette. Their unconscious companion they dub Meryl. The irony is that each has picked their own idealised self-images to live life as a movie in which they merely play roles. \nThe five survivors are forced not only to come to terms with the disaster\, but also to deal with the prospects of survival in an unforgiving atmosphere\, yet emerging as a most refreshing and entertaining new play. \nContains Strong Language – Not Suitable for Children \nTickets £10.00 online from danarts.org or phone 01606 259596 \nDoors and Bar open 7:00pm.

SUMMARY:Play Reading Social
DESCRIPTION:If you are at all interested in drama\, whether performing\, helping backstage or set design/construction\, this is a social evening at which you can come along to meet our team\, see what we do and maybe find out how YOU could get involved. \nBesides networking and socializing\, the main activity of the evening will be to read a script to see how well it stands up to performance and whether it is worth considering for future presentation at our theatre. You don’t have to read\, but why not give it a try? Or just sit and listen. All good! \nThere’s always a tea break at half-time. What more could you ask for a cheap but friendly night out? \nYou can contact Denise by email to find out more.

SUMMARY:Paradise Lodge
DESCRIPTION:Vi\, Ronnie and the other residents of Paradise Lodge care home have gathered in the big lounge to be entertained by Eric and Kylie – ‘The Doodlebugs!’. But Vi just wants to join her husband on holiday and Ronnie wants to search for his kidnapped family. Trouble is\, Vi’s husband is dead and Ronnie’s family just don’t visit. \nEric has had a lot of musical partners\, but none of them stick for long – what’s his problem anyway? This is Kylie’s first gig; she’s ballsy and ambitious\, but struggles to handle the tricky audience – this isn’t what she signed up for. \nThrough a series of touching flashbacks and comic songs from the war years\, Vi\, Ronnie and the audience are transported back to a time when they had all their lives before them\, when they thought they could live and love forever. \nParadise Lodge explores how we deal with dementia in a hilarious\, thought-provoking musical comedy which looks at the nature of identity\, reality\, love and loss. \nFor tickets online via Eventbrite @ £10.15 click here\nTelephone enquiries to 07791 590295\nPLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SHOW IS NOT BOOKABLE ON THE DAVENHAM TICKET LINE. \nANY QUESTIONS SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO THE ABOVE NUMBER.

SUMMARY:K.C. Finn's Dark Moments
DESCRIPTION:Who is this  K.C. Finn?\nAuthor K.C. Finn lives in Chester and she is the author of more than 20 novels in the four years she has been in the writing business. K.C. is multi-award-winning\, having received the coveted Chanticleer Best Gothic Fiction 2016 award for her novel The Book Of Shade\, a 78\,000-word fantasy novel that took just 16 days to pen. She has also received accolades from the RONÉ Awards for Best Young Author Paranormal Fiction 2015 (The Mind’s Eye\, 2nd Place) and the Readers’ Favourite Award for Best Young Author Science Fiction book of 2016 (Legion Lost\, Commended Finalist) and is currently a semi-finalist for Best Young Author Book of The Year in the Dante Rossetti Prize 2017. \nIn the world of horror fiction\, K.C. Finn has also shared the charts with the likes of Stephen King and Dean Koontz for her worldwide best-selling story collection Sinister Sentiments. In theatre\, her debut production of Dark Moments at Chester Little Theatre in October 2016 was the beginning of a new era\, with future productions to follow\, such as Left Luggage\, which will be touring three theatres (and hopefully Davenham too!) in July/August 2017. \nAnd the Cast…?\nThe Dark Moments cast includes Kelly Cowley (daughter of ??? and Arthur Jones) whose superb  Rise & Shine wowed audiences at Davenham in March 2016 and Sue Elliott who will also be remembered for her roles in Effie’s Burning\, Breathing Corpses and Medea at Davenham. \nWhat’s  a ‘Dark Moment’?\nK.C. Finn’s Dark Moments explores life through the lens of three one-act plays where black comedy and gritty realism collide. \nIn PASSENGERS\, cabin fever takes hold of a band of holidaymakers on a late night flight\, suspicion and paranoia driving them to breaking point. \nMALE BLACK sees a group of friends sitting down to a dinner party\, when their common acquaintance Jimmy Black arrives. Black drives a rift into the group\, one that can only be resolved by murder. \nFinally\, in OTHER PEOPLE’S VIOLENCE\, the themes of isolation and loneliness are explored. Four people live in neighbouring flats\, and one of them is about to die. The story follows the lives of these characters through their disasters\, revelations and breakthroughs\, until the grim prophecy comes true. \nWhen can I see Dark Moments?\nDark Moments runs from Thursday 27th April to Sunday 30th April inclusive (four nights) \nDoors open at 7.30pm. Show at 8pm \nTickets £8. Book on-line at www.danarts.org \nor ring 01606 259596 \nDoors and Bar open 7.30pm – Performance starts at 8.00pm \nBookings @ £8.00 on www.danarts.org or 01606 259596

SUMMARY:Theatre Ellipsis - Absence of Separation
DESCRIPTION:ALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS PRODUCTION WILL GO TO DAVENHAM PLAYERS FOR THEATRE IMPROVEMENTS\nA preview of the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe Festival Professional Show from Theatre Ellipsis: \nAbsence of Separation\nby Ben Moores & Matt Rothwell\nJohn has had an accident and is fighting for his life. It all comes down to this moment where everything seems possible as he teeters on the verge of his possible annihilation. Time has slowed down and everything is at stake. Guided by a mysterious stranger he takes stock of his existence and wonders if his life has added up to anything much at all. \nA new dark comedy drama about searching for meaning\, punctuated with physical theatre\, spoken word and live songs. It tells the story and delves deep in to the minds of the two characters\, ready to either redefine themselves or give up on life altogether. The two men form an affinity: delving into existential philosophy\, arguing about the surreal absurdity of life\, fighting for their own beliefs\, questioning everything\, dissecting their dreams\, finding infinity in a plastic cup and almost losing their minds. \nIt takes this mundane and seemingly melancholic place…inhabited by characters that society would deem as “average” and through their own imaginings they dares to touch the hem of the robe of infinity. \nThe play touches on Vedanta Hinduism\, Zen Buddhism\, spirituality\, contemporary society\, depression\, consciousness\, psychology\, dreams\, addiction and fairytales. \nCast – Ben Moores & Matt Rothwell \nTickets £8.00 (£5.00 Students) from www.danarts.org or 01606 259596 \nALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS PRODUCTION WILL GO TO DAVENHAM PLAYERS FOR THEATRE IMPROVEMENTS

SUMMARY:In the Company of Women
DESCRIPTION:Seven women\, three plays all in one night. Tuesday 15th to Saturday 19th March 2016 inclusive Bar opens 7.30pm ; Show starts at 8pm; Tickets £10. Booking on-line via http://www.danarts.org/ (Development of the Arts in Northwich) or phone Davenham Players Box Office 01606 259596 \nRise & Shine (stars Kelly Cowley)  Medea (with Vanessa Duffy\, Denise Barry\, Sue Elliott\, Andrea Scott and Jo Oultram). Both these short plays by Dario Fo & Franca Rame. Also on the same night Laura Elizabeth Bason will star in Where do Little Birds Go? by Camilla Whitehill. \nThe show is called “In the Company of Women” : it is all about women and their lot in life\, their struggles and fight for identity from Medea (based on the mythic story of Jason & Medea). Rise & Shine a factory worker with a child and sleeping partner trying to get ready for work in her crowded life and Where do little birds go about Lucy who gets caught up in 60s London as a teenager and is used by the Kray twins as a woman to “amuse” mad axeman Frank Mitchell while he is holed up in a London flat after being broken out of prison by the Krays. \nFranca Rame writing about her 2 plays says “The pieces are comic\, grotesque\, on purpose. First of all because we women have been crying for two thousand years. So let’s laugh now\, even at ourselves.” \nExtract from critics about Where do Little Birds Go?: \nThat day in the pub\, the day I first saw them\, they were dressed identically. Dark wool coats\, smart hats. The whole pub went quiet. It’s 1966. Lucy Fuller is 18 years old. She likes musicals and make up\, and her job at Winston’s night club. One night Lucy is kidnapped by the Kray twins and locked in a flat with an escaped murderer. This is the terrifying story of Lucy’s time with Ronnie\, Reggie\, and Frank “The Mad Axeman” Mitchell. Where do little birds go? is a colourful and poignant tale of crime\, kidnap and lost innocence in the heart of the 1960s East End. \nSee Facebook Page Urban Trendz Theatre when active. \n
