Two kindred spirits with an irrepressible will to play ‘no nonsense’ jazz\, tinged with blues and soul. \nThey will be playing a selection of well chosen standards\, as well as a few originals\, delivered with a reverence for the past masters whilst putting their own spin on the music. \nLIBOR SMOLDAS Libor Šmoldas is a Prague based jazz guitarist and composer who has worked and recorded with international stars such as James Morrison\, George Mraz\, Jeff Ballard\, Sam Yahel\, Bobby Watson\, Adam Nussbaum\, Brian Charette\, Jay Anderson\, Stephen Keogh and more. \nHe has released eight albums as a leader. DESCRIPTION:SALLY DOHERTY & PAUL KILVINGTON\nTHURSDAY 26TH NOVEMBER 2026\n\nVocalist Sally Doherty and Pianist Paul Kilvington share a love for Latin American Music. An evening of songs from South America performed in their original languages of Portuguese and Spanish creating a fusion of Latin\, Jazz and Folk. \nSally’s musical career has led her into numerous genre and collaborative creative and physical journeys whose influence can sometimes be heard in her performances giving her approach to Latin American song a fresh and original sound. \nSally has released 12 albums (self-penned\, Folk\, Jazz and Latin) and collaborated on many varied projects which have taken her on tour all over Europe as well as America\, Australia and Scandinavia\, has performed live on MTV\, BBC radio 1\, RAI 1 Italian TV and a multitude of European and USA Radio stations. Sally’s work as a composer has also resulted in writing and performing for BBC TV\, BBC Radio 4 Drama and short films. \nPaul Kilvington was the creator and musical director of Latin Jazz outfit Amazonia who wowed UK Jazz Festival audiences in the 90s. His improvisation skills in a Latin American framework are simply stunning and often unexpected and surprising. DESCRIPTION:(c)Information and images courtesy of Electronic Press Kit\nDALE STORR – THE SOUND OF NEW ORLEANS\nTHURSDAY 25TH FEBRUARY 2027\n\nDescribed by Jazz Journal magazine as the “piano man’s piano man…” and “a national treasure”\, Dale Storr’s musical journey has now brought him recognition as one of the UK’s leading exponents of New Orleans piano. Inspired by his parents record collection of early Rhythm n’ Blues and Rock n’ Roll\, the evocative music of New Orleans quickly became a passion for the young pianist. \nHe immersed himself into the styles of heroes like Dr.John\, James Booker\, Professor Longhair\, Allen Toussaint\, Fats Domino and Huey ‘Piano’ Smith to name but a few. His piano studies took him to Sheffield where he established himself as a highly sought after pianist backing many top rhythm and blues stars from the U.K. and America. \nHowever\, the music of his beloved New Orleans was always going to take precedence and from 2008 Dale went solo with his now acclaimed ‘Sounds of New Orleans’ show. \nIn 2023 Dale was chosen to open the main stage at the Buxton International jazz festival which was headlined by none other than Wynton Marsalis. DESCRIPTION:FLORIAN ARBENZ CONVERGENCE PROJECT\nTHURSDAY 29TH APRIL 2027\n\nInspired in part by the great drummer/bandleaders like Art Blakey\, Max Roach and Peter Erskine\, Florian set up the Convergence project to perform the hard-swinging joy-filled jazz that helped us fall in love with this genre. \nFor 2025 & 2026\, they will present a brand-new CD – Moon – featuring the incredible Cuban Vistel brothers\, Maikel & Jorge – and they will be touring extensively from their combined bases in Switzerland and Spain. \nFlorian Arbenz sees jazz not as a fixed style but as a framework to adapt and reshape. On Moon\, that means using the drums to set space and colour for strong musical voices to connect. This duo represents a stylish sophisticated take on these iconic songs. An innovative reimagining of these classic Beatles tunes\, in a natural jazz direction. \nAlan and Zoe also portray the seductiveness\, irresistible warmth and penetrating rhythm of the Bossa Nova with songbook classics penned by Antonio Carlos Jobim. \nThroughout “Beatles Bossa and Beyond” Zoe and Alan flow effortlessly using different textures\, creating different harmonic shades.
