SUMMARY:Drama Masterclass
DESCRIPTION:Hello Masterclassers \nI hope you have all had a restful holiday period and some good times. \nWe will begin the masterclasses for this year on Thursday 23rd January and it will be the postponed session from last November:  ‘Playing the Situation’. \nWith this theme I hope to get into some things quickly that will make a real difference to your experience either on stage\, directing people on stage\, dressing or readying people for the stage and even the reading of scripts and plays.  This may sound ambitious perhaps but there are simple actions that all characters do in all stories:  Coming on and going off\, for example.  And there are always opportunities to add a bit more detail to what we do\, which in turn keeps us busy\, builds our confidence and makes us a little more fun for others to work with. \nFebruary’s Masterclass will be:  ‘Voice’.  Same time\, same place and on Thursday 20th February. \n  \nIf you wish to attend either Masterclass then please let me know and please take a look at the poster attached. \nI can be contacted via email and social media (@TomforaStory if you can’t find my personal profile or are on Instagram or Twitter) or you can call me on 07956016116 \n  \nThank you and hope to see you soon. \nTom

SUMMARY:Play Reading Social
DESCRIPTION:If you are at all interested in drama\, whether performing\, helping backstage or set design/construction\, this is a social evening at which you can come along to meet our team\, see what we do and maybe find out how YOU could get involved. \nBesides networking and socializing\, the main activity of the evening will be to read a script to see how well it stands up to performance and whether it is worth considering for future presentation at our theatre. You don’t have to read\, but why not give it a try? Or just sit and listen. All good! \nThere’s always a tea break at half-time. What more could you ask for a free but friendly night out? \nYou can contact Denise by email to find out more. \n

SUMMARY:Heroes by Gérald Sibleyras translated by Tom Stoppard
DESCRIPTION:It’s August 1959 and three men sit on a bench in the garden outside a home for retired military men\, somewhere in France\, planning a breakout. Philippe\, Gustave and Henri\, all war heroes\, have had enough of the tortures of their confinement: dictatorial captors\, untrustworthy fellow prisoners and far too many birthday parties. Indeed\, life in a retired soldiers’ home is almost unbearable! So\, while keeping each other company on the back patio\, they hatch a plan to escape to Indochina\, or at least a picnic under the poplars on a nearby hill. \nHeroes was written by French playwright Gérald Sibleyras as ‘The Wind in The Poplars’ over a period of about 10 years\, finally being staged in 2002. This new version of Sibleyras’s work\, re-named ‘Heroes’\, was translated (with minor amendments) by Tom Stoppard and opened in its current form at Wyndham’s in 2005 with John Hurt\, Richard Griffiths and Ken Stott. \nWinner of London’s prestigious Olivier Award for Best New Comedy\, Tom Stoppard’s adaptation of this French play is playful\, bawdy and heartbreakingly funny. \nThe Other Theatre Company bring Heroes to Davenham on Thursday 14th November nightly at 7:30 to Saturday 16th November. \nTickets at £10.00 (concessions £8.00 Thursday 14th only) are available from Davenham Players Theatre on 01606 259 596 or online at danarts.org \nDoors and Bar 7:00pm \nShow at 7:30pm \n

SUMMARY:Audition - The Steamie
DESCRIPTION:Hello All \nI’m sure that by now you will have heard the sad news about the need to postpone the September production of Dancing at Lughnasa as it has been temporarily withdrawn from availability for performance by amateurs.  I know that Barbara was very excited to be directing this play and is still looking forward to being able to do so again in the not too distant future\, maybe in June 2020. \nI have offered to fill the gap by directing The Steamie\, a comedy by Tony Roper (Rab C Nesbitt) which will be performed week beginning 21 October instead (don’t worry we are\, as we speak\, checking for any restrictions!).  There will be a read through on Tuesday 23 July and an audition on Tue 6 August.  The cast is made up as follows:  F4/M1.  The oldest is about 75\, one about 65\, one about 40 and one is young – all a bit flexible.  The male is described as young and big! Again flexible.  All are working class Glaswegians  – no glamorous parts I’m afraid. \nIt would be very helpful if anyone interested in being involved could let me know in advance about any restrictions they have re. Rehearsal dates/times and/or any holidays they already have booked during September /October.  You can text or call me on 07412 941065.  I will send all those interested a description of the characters. \nI do hope that you will wish to be involved and look forward to seeing you soon. \nVery best \nSheila

SUMMARY:Readthrough - The Steamie

SUMMARY:LitFest Angela Clarke
DESCRIPTION:===================================================== \nSunday Times bestselling author\, Angela Clarke\, has won so many awards and succeeded at so many things as a writer that it would be impossible to list them all here. Suffice to say\, Angela was a guest at our LitFest several years ago\, before her success had grown so phenomenally\, and she was one of the best speakers we’d ever had.    \nAngela’s latest book\, On My Life\, tells the story of Jenna\, who thought she had the perfect life until suddenly she finds herself framed\, imprisoned and pregnant. On suspicion of murder\, she must fight to prove her innocence from behind bars or her baby may be given away to whoever framed her. \nIntrigued? Come and meet Angela! \n================================================= \nYou can view the full LitFest programme online at http://www.northwichlitfest.co.uk/p/programme.html \nTo book your tickets @ £5.00\, either click here to book online\, email Susi Osborne  or call 01606 553433 \nAll events start at 7.30pm unless otherwise stated
