DESCRIPTION:Photo Credits: Maria Altzamora\, Elle Jones \nEmma Johnson’s Gravy Boat is a contemporary\, cinematic jazz quintet led by Leeds based saxophonist and composer Emma Johnson.\nEmma’s writing displays a contemporary sound rooted by infectious melodies and the group have been described as demonstrating a “strong and joyful bond\, immediately apparent in their sound”. Gravy Boat is a band that aspires to write and perform melodic\, accessible jazz that anyone can enjoy.\nGravy Boat play ‘a relaxed\, melodic and distinctive style of contemporary jazz’.\nA recent review on Bebop Spoken Here noted: ‘Johnson gets a great sound on tenor and has a technique to match. Just turn up at the theatre at 7:30pm. \nThe May production is to be ‘A Warwickshire Testimony ‘ 10-14th  May\, directed by Paulette Anderson. Auditions for this are on 24th and 25th Jan. This is a  tale of a Warwickshire village  from the 1920s to the 1960’s seen through the eyes of its inhabitants. Explore our costume room\, watch a rehearsal or have a natter about times gone by. \n\nThis theatre group recently discovered that their beloved building started life as a Victorian school and was even the home to a young family.\nHaving completed an ambitious extension and refurbish during the last 2 years\, the Players are thrilled to officially open their doors again. \nOn 11th September there will be an afternoon to take a taste of life within the building\, from current projects & groups\, to tales of the past.\nAnd as with most get togethers at 59 Church Street\, there will be cake! \nSit amongst our Writer’s Group\, join in with a Play Reading\, explore our Costume Room or listen to our Lockdown Podcast in the Props Room. \nNo booking required \nEntry free of charge \nAccess\nThe entrance is accessed via a slight incline at the side of the building. This leads to an accessible (including ramp) foyer with toilets\, leading to the auditorium. There are small and narrow steps and spaces in the backstage and upstairs areas which some may find difficult. There is also a bar area which only accessed via stairs. We are happy to answer any enquiries for more details on accessibility. \nCOVID-19 Considerations\nThis event will run in line with local & national government guidelines at the time of the festival.
