DESCRIPTION:If you are interested in joining us to act\, direct or help with our productions in any way\, you can come along to meet us at a short meeting from 5:30pm on Wednesday 1st September where people will be available to show you around the theatre and talk with you about what we do. \nIf you cannot get along on that day\, you can join the public Heritage Open Day between 1pm and 4pm on Saturday 11th September when the building will be open to visitors (free entry) to look around. Tea and cakes will be on sale.

DESCRIPTION:Davenham Players Theatre will open its doors and invite you backstage\, onstage and upstage for tea\, cakes & stories. Explore our costume room\, watch a rehearsal or have a natter about times gone by. \n\nThis theatre group recently discovered that their beloved building started life as a Victorian school and was even the home to a young family.\nHaving completed an ambitious extension and refurbish during the last 2 years\, the Players are thrilled to officially open their doors again. \nOn 11th September there will be an afternoon to take a taste of life within the building\, from current projects & groups\, to tales of the past.\nAnd as with most get togethers at 59 Church Street\, there will be cake! \nSit amongst our Writer’s Group\, join in with a Play Reading\, explore our Costume Room or listen to our Lockdown Podcast in the Props Room. \nNo booking required \nEntry free of charge \nAccess\nThe entrance is accessed via a slight incline at the side of the building. This leads to an accessible (including ramp) foyer with toilets\, leading to the auditorium. There are small and narrow steps and spaces in the backstage and upstairs areas which some may find difficult. There is also a bar area which only accessed via stairs. We are happy to answer any enquiries for more details on accessibility. \nCOVID-19 Considerations\nThis event will run in line with local & national government guidelines at the time of the festival.

DESCRIPTION:Vinny Peculiar \nMonday September 13th sees a return to Davenham Theatre of Vinny Peculiar [aka Alan Wilkes] who spent his formative years in Worcestershire and trained as a nurse before signing to Manchester cult label Ugly Man records [former home to Elbow]. He’s since put out fourteen albums of literate autobiographical pop music over a twenty+year career – touring band\, solo and duo shows. \nPast work associations include Bill Drummond [KLF]\, Luke Haines and Jah Wobble [PIL]. Over the years his bands have included ex members of The Smiths\, OASIS\, Aztec Camera & The Fall.
