DESCRIPTION:Davenham Players Theatre will open its doors and invite you backstage\, onstage and upstage for tea\, cakes & stories. Explore our costume room\, watch a rehearsal or have a natter about times gone by. \n\nThis theatre group recently discovered that their beloved building started life as a Victorian school and was even the home to a young family.\nHaving completed an ambitious extension and refurbish during the last 2 years\, the Players are thrilled to officially open their doors again. \nOn 11th September there will be an afternoon to take a taste of life within the building\, from current projects & groups\, to tales of the past.\nAnd as with most get togethers at 59 Church Street\, there will be cake! \nSit amongst our Writer’s Group\, join in with a Play Reading\, explore our Costume Room or listen to our Lockdown Podcast in the Props Room. \nNo booking required \nEntry free of charge \nAccess\nThe entrance is accessed via a slight incline at the side of the building. This leads to an accessible (including ramp) foyer with toilets\, leading to the auditorium. There are small and narrow steps and spaces in the backstage and upstairs areas which some may find difficult. There is also a bar area which only accessed via stairs. We are happy to answer any enquiries for more details on accessibility. \nCOVID-19 Considerations\nThis event will run in line with local & national government guidelines at the time of the festival.

DESCRIPTION:LINE-UP \nSteve Oakes – Guitar \nEd Kainyek – Saxes \nTim Franks – Drums \nGavin Barras – Bass \nSTEVE OAKES QUARTET \nThe band performs an eclectic mixture of modern jazz styles comprising be-bop\, latin jazz\, funk and contemporary takes on standards.Original compositions are interspersed with pieces by jazz icons including Pat Metheny and Courtney Pine. The solos are frequently passionate and intense\, while at other times subtle and reflective. The band has performed at countless jazz venues in recent years as well as major festivals including the  International Guitar Festival of Great Britain\, the Manchester Jazz Festival\, the Wigan Jazz Festival\, the Southport Jazz Festival\, and the Nantwich Jazz\, Blues and Music Festival. DESCRIPTION:Hope you are all well and looking forward to our first gig at Davenham since lockdown as much as we are. \nWe are pleased to announce that the ever popular Amy Roberts / Rod Hallam Quintet will be performing for us on Thursday 29th July. The rest of the lineup is Nick Millward – drums\, Tom Kincaid -piano\, Ed Harrison – bass. \nUnder current Covid restrictions at this present time audience numbers are limited to a maximum of 40 and social distancing and face covering rules are in place. However we hope that these restrictions will be lifted on July 19th so that we can have a full attendance. \nA risk assessment has been carried out and we will be taking all necessary precautions to ensure all attending are kept safe and secure. The band will have lateral flow tests on the day of the gig. There will be plants on sale along with teas. \nThe theatre will also be open to the public with both Bar and Toilets open for business! \nCovid regulations will require certain us to restrict access\, at least indoors\, but we will do as much as possible to make your visit easy. \nNo booking needed – just turn up and look round. We may have to restrict numbers at times\, but there should be enough space for everyone’s comfort and protection. \nOh – and 2021 is the 80th anniversary of the forming of Davenham Players\, originally as Davenham Church Players in 1941.
