In 1970, a curmudgeonly history teacher at a New England boarding school remains on campus during Christmas break to supervise held over students, and ends up forming an unlikely bond with a brainy but damaged troublemaker. The Holdovers delivers exceptional performances from Paul Giamatti, and newcomer Dominic Sessa, creating and Da’Vine Joy Randolph won an Oscar for her perfomance. This new Christmas classic is heartfelt, emotionally resonant and nostalgic with 1970s cinema appeal. The dialogue is sharp and the weather wintry; what could be more perfect!
