Davenham Players are an amateur drama group based at Davenham Theatre, owned by the group. We aim to present at least three major drama productions every season. Besides our own company, our theatre also hosts regular monthly Jazz evenings, visiting drama productions by professional and amateur groups, youth productions and other general arts events.

You can see a list of our productions from the very first one in 1941 to the current date HERE.
A few years ago, we made a plan to upgrade our outdated audience toilet facilities and to create a brand-new foyer. Completed in January 2020, this was the first phase of our extension project. Phase 2, building a totally new ground-level bar/meeting room in the yard is now in planning ready to go ahead once funded. Click HERE to see a photo gallery of how the extension progressed.

Davenham Players Drama
The Davenham Players have a long history, having started off as Davenham Church Players in 1941 and produced amateur drama on stage continuously since then. We aim to stage three main productions at our theatre each season.
The very last pre-pandemic production was Waiting for Gateaux by Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood directed by Maggie Innes and was a light-hearted comedy about the worst health club in the country.
Live productions in the theatre resumed with a pot-pourri of comedic readings and sketches under the title Miscellany, directed by Paulette Anderson in October 2021 and from 2022 we intend to return to normal programming.
Members Evenings and Socials
We aim to hold a regular monthly cycle of socials and workshops for members and guests. These include Play Reading Socials, Acting Group and Writers’ Group. There will also be occasional one-off social events such as quizzes, games and fundraisers. See the What’s On page for upcoming events.
If you think you might be interested in any of the above, just come along. You can also contact us via our GET INVOLVED page to find out how you can help.
jazz@davenham
The organizers of jazz@davenham have been working within the Davenham Players since 2012. They normally occupy the theatre on the last Thursday of the month, but have other occasional gigs, ensuring the drama and jazz events fit well in the same space. jazz@davenham aim to choose a wide variety of styles of bands but also bring back ones that have gone down well with Cheshire audiences. Check out What’s On Jazz for the next gigs.
