Butcher’s Brew is a modern jazz group that has played shows at Ronnie Scott’s, the 606 Club, Matt and Phreds and Peggy’s Skylight. Led by Ray Butcher, who is a jazz trumpeter who has played with many of the jazz greats from the UK scene.

Ray has worked with Dr John, Mica Paris and recorded a solo on the song ‘God’s Great Dance Floor’ from the US chart topping and GRAMMY nominated release by Chris Tomlin ‘Burning Lights’.

He is joined by drummer Miles Levin, who studied at the Guildhall, and is the the son of the Tony Levin who played regularly with Tubby Hayes.

Tim Amann, pianist, who studied History at Cambridge, is a composer and leader himself and has played with Art Farmer and David Murray among others.

Bassist Mike Green has performed with Jamie Cullum and is very much in demand around the midlands and beyond.

Sam Rogers (sax) is an agile improviser and has worked with many influential musicians over a long period and brings a great warmth to the band.

The band plays jazz, funk, blue note, latin instrumental music and Tim, Ray and Sam performed a similar set on two tours to Moscow and St Petersburg at the Union of Composers’ Club in 2007 and 2010. The band recently played at the 606 club in Chelsea.
